NVIDIA 2027 Internships: Systems Software Engineering

NVIDIA•Santa Clara, CA
•$20 - $71

About The Position

NVIDIA is hiring interns for 2027 Systems Software Engineering opportunities across several teams. During a 12-week, full-time internship, students will work on projects with measurable business impact and gain hands-on experience with NVIDIA systems software teams. Opportunities may involve systems software, software security, graphics systems software, compilers, or firmware and embedded software. Systems Software interns may define, design, and develop integrated and discrete GPU system software components, including runtimes and math libraries, with a focus on power and performance, and create architecture and design specifications. Software Security interns may harden and develop secure solutions across the software stack and build tools and infrastructure to scale security efforts. Graphics Systems Software interns may develop graphics drivers, platform support, and conformance tests, and train and debug issues in the Tegra graphics software stack. Compiler interns may work on deep-learning compiler technology and investigate backend problems and optimization opportunities with compiler, hardware, and application teams. Firmware and Embedded Software interns may develop and test firmware for embedded microcontrollers within GPUs and create tools and infrastructure to improve design and verification processes. Applicants must remain enrolled in a university degree program for the full internship and include their anticipated graduation month and year on their resume or CV. The expected hourly pay range is $20–$71, based on position, location, year in school, degree, and experience. Intern benefits are also offered.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a university pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field for the full duration of the internship.
  • Anticipated graduation date, including month and year, must be clearly indicated on a resume or CV.
  • Depending on the role, course or internship experience may be required in relevant areas such as operating systems, multithreaded debugging, Linux kernel development, RTOS development on embedded platforms, data structures and algorithms, computer networking, and low-level programming.
  • Depending on the role, course or internship experience may be required in software security, network security, cryptography, computer systems architecture, or microcontroller and microprocessor fundamentals.
  • Depending on the role, course or internship experience may be required in computer architecture, real-time systems, device driver programming, graphics theory and implementation, or simulation and emulation.
  • Depending on the role, course or internship experience may be required in compiler construction and development, advanced algorithms and data structures, open-source programming, high-performance computing, or automation and open-source tools.
  • Depending on the role, prior experience or knowledge may include C, C++, C++17, CUDA, x86, Perl, ARM CPU, GPU, Embedded C, Linux, Linux kernel development, and Bash or shell scripting.
  • Depending on the role, prior experience or knowledge may include graphics, operating systems, formal verification tools, multi-threaded or multi-process programming, computer networking, compiler tools, testing and automation tools, and microprocessor fundamentals.
