The Utilities Division is responsible for public health and safety, as well as safeguarding the environment, by providing crucial safe water and wastewater services. This position is part of the team that provides services necessary for human health, economic stability, and overall societal well-being. At the core of the mission of providing these services includes commitment to providing excellent customer service to our citizens, business partners, regulatory agencies, and other county divisions. These positions perform highly skilled work in industrial maintenance, troubleshooting and repair work in water production facilities, wastewater facilities, and lift stations. Responsibilities include preventative and corrective maintenance, repair, diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical equipment. These positions most also have general theory and understanding of industrial instrumentation and electrical controls. The role also involves performing physical labor to support facility and system upkeep. Employees may be assigned to specific water or wastewater sites for extended periods to gain practical experience and knowledge toward meeting the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) certification or licensing requirements. This position plays a key role in ensuring the reliability of essential utility services, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and public health and safety.
