About The Position

The Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS), Office of Information Technology, is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Business Analyst to join our team in Tallahassee, Florida. This onsite position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to enterprise technology initiatives that enhance government services and improve outcomes for the citizens of Florida. As a Business Analyst, you will work closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and technical staff to identify business needs and translate them into effective technology solutions. You will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and functional requirements, ensuring that proposed solutions align with organizational objectives and business priorities. The successful candidate will facilitate meetings and workshops, promote collaboration among cross-functional teams, and support business process improvement initiatives. You will also participate in system testing, implementation activities, and the development and maintenance of project documentation to ensure successful project delivery. Serving as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and Information Technology teams, you will help bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions while contributing to the successful implementation of enterprise projects that support the Department's mission.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of experience in Computer Science or Information Technology-related field, such as computer science, engineering or similar.
  • A post-secondary degree in Computer Science or Information Technology-related field, such as computer science, engineering or similar, may be used as an alternative for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in IT Projects as a Business Analyst or related duties.
  • Proficient in the English language.
  • Knowledge of business analysis principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of project management concepts and system development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
  • Knowledge of business process analysis, process improvement, and workflow design techniques.
  • Knowledge of requirements gathering documentation, testing, and implementation practices.
  • Skill in eliciting, analyzing, documenting, and validating business, functional, and technical requirements through interviews, workshops, meetings, and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Skill in preparing business requirements documents, functional specifications, use cases, user stories, process maps, workflow diagrams, and other project documentation.
  • Skill in communicating complex business and technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including executive leadership, technical teams, and end users.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in the use of Geographic Information Systems including ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online.
