About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer or Principal Systems Engineer to support the Sentinel (GBSD) program in Roy, UT. This role involves supporting the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production, and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 2 years of experience; 0 years with master’s degree (for Systems Engineer level 2)
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years’ experience; 3 years’ experience with a Masters’ degree in STEM; or 1 years’ experience with a PhD. Management experience can be considered ‘in lieu’ of a degree (for Principal Systems Engineer level 3)
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • 1+ year of experience developing or reviewing requirements within DOORS or similar tool (for Systems Engineer level 2)
  • 2 years of experience developing or reviewing requirements within DOORS or similar tool (for Principal Systems Engineer level 3)
  • 1+ year of experience in ICBM (MMIII or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems (for Systems Engineer level 2)
  • 2 years of experience in ICBM (MMIII or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems (for Principal Systems Engineer level 3)

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS
  • Experience in SysML or UPDM modeling languages
  • Proficiency with the DoDAF, UAF, or other modeling frameworks
  • Experience modeling with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, MagicDraw (No Magic, Inc.) or other architecture modeling tools
  • Experience using tools to model large systems with multiple developers
  • Experience in Software and/or Hardware design
  • Experience in documenting Interface Control Documents, Interface Requirement Specifications, and Interface Description Documents
  • Experience in the military aerospace development environment

Responsibilities

  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), development of requirements and multiple system engineering models
  • Coordination & collaboration with the System Engineering and Command & Launch Segment System Engineering Teams
  • Supporting system, segment, element and unit level trade studies
  • Definition of high-level functional and performance requirements and verification methods, subsequent analysis, decomposition, and derivation of requirements, allocation of those lower-level requirements to physical and functional architectural elements, and tracking them through design, verification, integration, and operational validation
  • Supporting a team of engineers to create, mature and present comprehensive and cohesive technical charts representative of the appropriate level of maturation for any given milestone meeting and demonstrating team readiness in relation to achieving the milestone entrance and exit criteria
  • Identifying required contractual deliverables and non-contractual documentation and driving corresponding updates to closure
  • Coordinating and collaborating with diverse engineering design teams to assist in managing the technical baseline
