About The Position

K Group Companies is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer – Low Voltage & Controls to serve as a technical resource across our physical security, low voltage, building automation, and integrated technology systems. This is a hands-on role focused on system configuration, programming, pre-deployment staging, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical support. You will work closely with our engineering, project management, and field service teams to ensure systems are properly configured and ready for deployment, while also serving as a technical resource when complex issues arise in the field. The ideal candidate enjoys solving technical problems, learning new technologies, and understanding how different systems communicate. This role is intentionally not tied to a single manufacturer or platform. Instead, you will work across a variety of technologies and help bring them together into reliable, customer-ready solutions.

Requirements

3+ years of hands-on experience configuring, programming, commissioning, integrating, or troubleshooting control, low voltage, physical security, building automation, or related technology systems.
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root cause rather than relying on temporary workarounds.
Experience working with equipment and systems from multiple manufacturers.
Solid understanding of IP networking fundamentals and how devices communicate across a customer network.
Ability to read and understand system diagrams, network diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues and solutions clearly.
Comfortable working in a hands-on environment that combines lab, office, and customer-site work.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally for commissioning, technical escalations, and customer support.

Nice To Haves

Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
Physical Security & Low Voltage: Experience with access control, video surveillance, IP cameras, intrusion detection, structured cabling, nurse call, or related systems.
Building Automation & Controls: Experience with HVAC, lighting controls, energy management, smart building technologies, or IoT systems.
Systems Integration & Networking: Experience with IP networking, BACnet, Modbus, multi-vendor system integration, commissioning, or functional testing.
Platforms & Customer Support: Experience with platforms such as Avigilon or Tridium Niagara, as well as customer training and technical system handoffs.
Industry Experience: Experience supporting healthcare, senior living, commercial buildings, or other complex facilities.
Niagara 4 Technical Certification (TCP) is valued but not required. K Group will support certification for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Configure, program, and bench-test equipment in-house before it is deployed to customer sites.
Perform factory acceptance testing and functional testing to validate systems against project requirements.
Identify and resolve configuration or integration issues before they become field problems.
Prepare equipment and technical documentation so field teams can focus on installation and commissioning.
Help improve internal staging procedures, testing standards, and deployment processes.
Serve as a technical escalation point for field technicians, project managers, engineers, and customers.
Troubleshoot complex issues involving low voltage, physical security, controls, networking, and integrated systems.
Diagnose and resolve issues remotely when possible and travel to customer sites when hands-on support is needed.
Own technical issues through resolution, including identifying root cause and documenting solutions.
Work with manufacturers and technology vendors when additional technical support is required.
Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from kickoff through commissioning and closeout.
Configure, integrate, commission, and validate systems from multiple manufacturers.
Troubleshoot communication between systems using IP-based technologies and protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
Support physical security, building automation, controls, and other integrated low voltage systems.
Perform commissioning, functional testing, and system validation at customer sites.
Support system upgrades, expansions, and ongoing service needs for existing customers.
Provide end-user training on installed systems and technologies.
Develop clear system handoff documentation and operating guides.
Create and maintain network diagrams, system architecture documentation, sequences of operation, and as-built documentation.
Provide post-installation technical support as customers become familiar with their systems.
Document troubleshooting solutions and contribute to K Group's internal technical knowledge base.
Work closely with engineering, project management, service, and field teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
Communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Share lessons learned and help develop solutions that improve future project delivery.
Serve as a technical resource who helps the broader team solve challenging problems.
