Systems Integration and Test Engineer

CubicSan Diego, CA
$80,000 - $110,000

About The Position

The Systems Engineering Integration and Test area is responsible for bridging design and manufacturing by assembling, configuring, and verifying hardware/software frameworks. This team ensures that subsystems interact as a unified system, verifies performance against requirements, and validates that product offerings meet stakeholder needs through rigorous testing and debugging. Role Knowledge and Application Develops professional expertise, applying company policies and technical procedures to resolve a variety of integration and testing issues. Determines a course of action based on guidelines, such as test plans and test procedures, and modifies processes and methods as required to optimize test coverage. Works with laboratory hardware/software, performing initial bring-up, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis of integrative issues. Complexity and Problem-Solving Works on problems of moderate scope which are often varied and routine, such as troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, or software interfaces. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions for debugging, and identifying the root cause of integration failures. Applies learned techniques in test automation, data analysis, and anomaly investigation to solve integration problems and enhance system reliability. Supervision Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments. Collaborates with experienced team members to define test requirements and strategies. Collaboration and Interaction Builds productive internal/external working relationships to resolve mutual problems by collaborating on procedures or transactions, working closely with Design, Manufacturing, and Software teams. Focuses on providing standard professional advice, including creating test reports, test procedures, and analyzing results to ensure system verification. Coordinates with cross-functional engineers to troubleshoot integration issues and drive corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems, or Software) and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with electromechanical systems design, implementation, and integration is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a laboratory environment working with data acquisition tools, test fixtures, or scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) is strongly preferred.
