About The Position

Under general supervision, the Systems Integration and Test Engineer will formulate and define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to solve complex testing problems. This role involves preparing detailed specifications for test software, and designing, coding, testing, and debugging testing software and tools. The engineer will be competent in most phases of the test program and familiar with FAA-STD-026A NAS Software Development Standard, or equivalent. A moderate experience with structured software development and modern software test tools and techniques is required. Duties include performing testing at FAA sites and in Physical/Virtual test labs, executing procedures to verify system configuration and operation in the NAS, coordinating activities with FAA and Leidos personnel, debugging system-level issues, and analyzing issues in conjunction with System Engineering and Software. The role also involves learning system architecture, performing formal test execution with customers, troubleshooting network configurations, and demonstrating test execution to the FAA for customer acceptance. Applicants are subject to a background investigation and must be a US citizen or 3-year permanent resident. The company cannot sponsor applicants at this time. Willingness to endure 2+ months for FAA background investigation completion is required. Travel is required 100% of the time.

Requirements

  • Experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems
  • Troubleshoot connection /network configurations skills
  • Experience in following a documented Integration and Test Development Process
  • Strong integration skills with hands-on experience integrating large software complex systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with internal and external customers
  • Willing to collaborate with FAA customer on sites to build system knowledge.
  • Advanced integration skills and the ability to work independently in the following categories of integration: New system functionality integration, Analyzing identified issues and help determine a solution, Problem identification/analysis.
  • Must be a US citizen or 3 year permanent resident.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with FAA-STD-026A NAS Software Development Standard, or equivalent.
  • Moderately experienced with structured software development and modern software test tools and techniques.
  • A good academic understanding and/or exposure to system engineering practices to contribute to and/or assist with system integration, requirements engineering, operational and decision analysis, systems definition, requirements baseline control and management is desired
  • FAA Air Traffic Domain Knowledge
  • Experience with formal test with a government agency/customer
  • ERAM experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing at FAA sites and in Physical/Virtual test labs to ensure the system, test procedure, and test inputs are prepared to execute with the customer present
  • Execute procedures that verify the system is properly configured and operating in the NAS
  • Coordinate activities, communication, and planning efforts with FAA and Leidos personnel
  • Debug system level issues and provide detailed supporting data on identified issues
  • Understand System Level Requirements and perform system interface checkouts
  • Work with team lead to provide guidance to fellow test team members and ensure team goals are appropriately set to meet all program milestones
  • Execute commands for remote support staff (Integrated Lab Engineering/Networking) and provide feedback to solve problems remotely
  • Analyze identified issues in conjunction with System Engineering and Software in regard to developing solutions
  • Learn system architecture, design, functions and capabilities to support the integration and test of the new capabilities and enhancements
  • Perform formal test execution with the customer and quality assurance organizations
  • Coordinate activities, communication, and planning efforts with FAA and Leidos personnel
  • Understand XML data and ability to troubleshoot connection issues with network configurations, IP addresses, JMS queue configurations, etc.
  • Demonstrate test execution to the FAA on a run for record to achieve customer acceptance of the content per release.
