About The Position

Peraton is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to serve as the User Endpoint Management Lead to join their national intelligence program that delivers infrastructure engineering/development, infrastructure operations, deployment, upgrades, and sustainment of products and services to achieve their client’s global Enterprise IT Infrastructure missions. This role involves a holistic approach to designing, developing, evaluating, and modifying end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products throughout their entire lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on the end-user experience. The lead will manage, secure, and optimize desktops, laptops, and mobile devices, ensuring compliance with IT and security policies, and will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining these endpoints, ensuring seamless integration with enterprise systems and cloud services. A key aspect of the role is implementing and managing endpoint security solutions, continuously monitoring for vulnerabilities, responding to security incidents, and collaborating with cybersecurity teams to mitigate risks. The position also involves deploying software updates, patches, and OS upgrades, creating and maintaining technical documentation, and researching new endpoint management and security technologies. Additionally, the role includes developing, analyzing, and maintaining tools to automate hardware or software product release processes, writing installation scripts, supporting software package registry and delivery, and working with project teams to manage build schedules and the build/packaging process. The lead will also compile and assemble software from source code, manage source code repositories, and automate build, test, and deployment processes for continuous integration and delivery. Designing and implementing release pipelines, training team members, supporting new application features, and serving as a gatekeeper for code transitions are also core responsibilities. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, operations, and quality assurance teams to ensure efficient and reliable software builds, testing, and deployment, while maintaining configuration control and integrity. The lead will also manage environment configurations, including deployment and rollback procedures, and stay current with industry trends to refine the release process. Finally, the position serves as the Technical Team Lead for User Endpoint Management.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret/ Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with ability to pass and obtain a Poly clearance.
  • Minimum of 12 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience or PhD with 7 years relevant experience). 4 years experience may be substituted in lieu of a Degree.
  • Proficiency in endpoint management.
  • Understanding of endpoint security technologies.
  • Strong skills in PowerShell or Shell scripting for automation and system optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and IT teams.
  • Technical team leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to customers and senior leaders.
  • CISSP or Security+ Certification.
  • US Citizenship is required to hold this clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly clearances.
  • CEH, GIAC, or Microsoft Certifications.
  • Deep understanding of infrastructure as code principles and the use of technologies such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Salt.
  • Knowledge of Apache web server administration.
  • Knowledge of identity management solutions such as Oracle IAM or RH-SSO (Keycloak) is a plus.
  • Experience with load balancing technologies such as HA Proxy is a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins is a plus.
  • Familiarity with container orchestration and VMWare is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Use a holistic approach to design, develop, evaluate, and modify end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle with an emphasis on the end user experience.
  • Manage, secure, and optimize desktops, laptops, and mobile devices while ensuring compliance with IT and security policies.
  • Install, configure and maintain desktops, laptops, and devices, ensuring proper integration with enterprise systems and cloud services.
  • Implement and manage endpoint security solutions, including antivirus, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and data loss prevention (DLP) tools to protect sensitive information.
  • Continuously monitor endpoints for vulnerabilities, respond to security incidents, and collaborate with cybersecurity teams to mitigate risks.
  • Deploy software updates, patches, and OS upgrades to maintain system stability and security.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and security policies for end-users and IT teams.
  • Research and recommend new endpoint management and security technologies to enhance organizational IT infrastructure.
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain tools that support and automate processes for hardware or software product release.
  • Write installation scripts and programs for installation of products.
  • Work with project teams to determine appropriate build schedules and then initiate the build and packaging process.
  • Compile and assemble software from source code.
  • Ensure tools are stored in source control.
  • Support developers for software package registry and delivery.
  • Work with others to complete analysis, evaluations, and design alternatives and to implement process improvements.
  • Work with development engineers to correct build errors.
  • Manage source code repositories and ensure adherence to version control best practices.
  • Automate the software build, test, and deployment processes to enable continuous integration and continuous delivery.
  • Design and implement release pipelines to ensure smooth and reliable software rollouts.
  • Train and mentor team members on the software build and continuous integration process and tools.
  • Support new application features and maintain environments.
  • Serve as gatekeeper, ensuring that code transitions smoothly from development to operational environments, while maintaining configuration control, integrity and reliability of the product.
  • Work jointly with engineering, operations and quality assurance to ensure that software builds are created, tested, and deployed efficiently and reliably to meet schedules and dependency requirements.
  • Maintain documentation related to release procedures, configurations, and modifications.
  • Develop and enforce policies for hotfixes and emergency releases.
  • Track and report on release metrics to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Facilitate communication across teams and stakeholders to keep everyone informed about release statuses and timelines.
  • Manage environment configurations, including deployment and rollback procedures for multiple environments.
  • Stay current with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to continuously refine and improve the release process.
  • Serve as the Technical Team Lead for User Endpoint Management.
