About The Position

The Systems Engineering Team Lead serves is responsible for all phases of the FAA Radar System Replacement (RSR) installations, to include engineering planning, design, testing and sustainment. This individual will be the senior technical person, leading the deployment, and will provide technical direction to systems engineers and installation personnel, ensuring compliance with FAA standards, OEM requirements, and program objectives. The Systems Engineering Team Lead is the primary engineering interface between the Program Manager, FAA stakeholders, and technical teams onsite, providing engineering oversight from initial site surveys through final site acceptance. The individual will also provide ongoing engineering support while ensuring technical consistency across all deployment locations.

Requirements

  • 10 years of progressively responsible systems engineering experience supporting complex technology implementations
  • 5 years leading engineering teams for large federal, FAA, DoD, or aviation programs
  • Experience with radar systems, surveillance systems, telecommunications, mission-critical infrastructure, or large-scale systems integration
  • Experience developing engineering documentation, technical design packages, and system implementation plans
  • Previous experience supporting system integration, testing, and operational acceptance
  • US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US, including 3 years of consecutive residence in the US
  • Meet eligibility requirements for government clearance

  • FAA NAS experience
  • Air Traffic Control or surveillance radar experience
  • Prior experience supporting field installations and operational acceptance testing

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for site surveys, engineering analyses, and site-specific implementation planning
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, design packages, and Site-Specific Implementation Plans (SSIPs)
  • Ensure engineering designs comply with FAA standards and safety requirements and OEM installation guidance
  • Lead engineering reviews for the following: Installation readiness, System integration, Optimization, and Commissioning activities
  • Direct troubleshooting efforts for complex system, hardware, software, networking, and integration issues
  • Coordinate engineering activities with stakeholders, including FAA personnel, installation managers, and maintenance organizations
  • Review root cause analyses
  • Approve corrective actions for recurring technical issues
  • Mentor and supervise Systems Engineers
  • Establishing engineering best practices and quality standards
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, and briefings
