About The Position

This position will provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) Level Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) support to the Human Lander System (HLS) Program Office's Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) Office (LP10) at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). This position will provide direct support to the Requirements and Verification manager to lead the Verification and Validation (V&V) team efforts to provide verification planning and closure documentation approval. Coordinate across the Artemis program elements, to include Orion, Gateway, Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility (EHP), and other HLS landers interfaces. Specific support to be provided includes, but is not limited to, the following: Support the Requirement and Verification group by serving as the Verification and Validation (V&V) lead. Coordinate verification discussion during requirement document development and revisions. Vet and capture V&V planning and closure documentation. Support R&V strategic planning to ensure the V&V team executes the plan to support HLS milestones. Develop and execute the review and approval of provided Detailed Verification Objectives (DVO)/Verification Events (VE) and Verification Closure Notices (VCN). Create DVOs and VCNs for NASA requirements. Coordinate development of Digital Engineering Tools to support the HLS V&V strategic plan. Develop and deliver SE&I products, documents, presentations, and action item responses. Support interface and integration requirements definition, verification, and validation, and change management efforts. Participate in reviews, meetings, teleconferences, and working groups. Communicate issues, best practices, lessons-learned and other technical positions related to the development of the systems engineering approach for program level integration efforts. Identify, describe, and communicate potential risks. Deliver project briefings to all levels of management. Provide clear and effective communications with internal and external partners and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Degree in Systems Engineering or related field is required.
  • Degree from an ABET accredited university is preferred.
  • Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a BS with at least 25+ years of systems engineering and/or technical management experience.
  • MS degree preferred.
  • Significant amount of experience supporting NASA launch vehicle and spacecraft projects.
  • Held lead type roles such as lead systems engineer, discipline lead engineer, verification lead etc.
  • Significant experience developing and documenting requirements, verifications, processes, or procedures.
  • In depth knowledge of space vehicle design, functions, terminology, interfaces, technical disciplines, and system design.
  • Flight hardware experience and/or hardware delivery experience.
  • A strong ability to perform with limited direction and guidance.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and effective team player with excellent customer relations skills, familiar with working in a dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrated experience building strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders, organizing, and facilitating meetings/technical discussions.
  • Ability to interface and collaborate with all levels of engineering and project management with the ability to lead and influence for consensus.
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams &Outlook).
  • Excellent written and oral technical communication skills, with the ability to clearly define and describe a technical subject to peers across various engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering program-level briefings and capability to communicate with program level stakeholders and partners.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of experience years of systems engineering and/or technical or programmatic management support of NASA projects or programs.
  • Experience leading systems engineering (specifically system requirements and V&V) efforts for space vehicles.
  • Experience in project planning and technical integration.
  • DNG Experience.
  • JIRA Experience.
  • Experience with planning, supporting, and executing space/DoD hardware design, development test and evaluation (DDT&E) efforts.
  • Familiarity with specific NASA Systems Engineering policies and procedures related to technical management such as the NASA Space Flight Program and Project Management Requirements (NPR 7120) and NASA Systems Engineering Processes and Requirements (NPR 7123).
