About The Position

Rohde & Schwarz USA's critical infrastructure business unit is expanding and seeking talent with networking and software system integration experience. This opening is for a Systems Engineering Manager to support our Air Traffic Control (ATC) programs. Strong candidates will have experience with IP-based voice communication systems, be goal oriented, and customer focused. The position is based in the DC/MD/VA area, from our new facility in Frederick, Maryland.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or relevant engineering degree.
  • First experience with systems for critical infrastructure customers.
  • Proficient in relevant business tools including MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with requirement management processes and tools.
  • Good technical writing skills.
  • Good communication and customer interface skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to operate with considerable autonomy and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, up to 30%.
  • In order to be considered, external candidates must be a US person capable of receiving a U.S. Government public trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a high functioning systems engineering team
  • Collaborate closely with ATC engineering and program teams
  • Provide input to program schedules, budgets and management plans
  • Manage the design, integration, and deployment of voice communications systems / subsystems for R&S ATC projects
  • Lead efforts for creating and maintaining technical documentation according to customer requirements.
  • Translate customer needs into requirements and competitive solutions maximizing R&S content.
  • Prepare regular reports on project progress, issues encountered, and resolutions implemented.
  • Participate in communication with customers and R&S product design team.
  • Work closely with the product engineering teams based in Europe and North America.
