At Northrop Grumman, you’ll have the resources, support, and team to do some of the best work of your career. We are seeking a Systems Engineering Manager 1 in our Bethpage, NY location. This is a dual-role manager position, involving balancing both the overall Functional oversight and management of a Systems Engineering group of 6 - 8 engineers as well as performance of productive work on a program or several programs. This position is based out of Bethpage, NY and will be 100% onsite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience or a PhD with 0 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • U.S Citizenship is required.
  • A current/active U.S. Government Secret Clearance
  • Experience with Systems Engineering development lifecycle
  • Experience with people management
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining customer and/or program communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven leadership in a distributed team environment
  • Experience in engineering functional management
  • Experience leading a team of 5-12 employees
  • Experience with DOORS and CAMEO Model Based Engineering development tools
  • Experience with Test and Evaluation (T&E) experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of systems engineers performing direct work on multiple programs
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Perform technical planning, modeling and simulation, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
  • Oversee and manage the quality and timeliness of the organization’s products, and identification and remediation of potential issues before they become problems
  • Develop and manage detailed budgets and schedules and create work assignments for indirect tasking
  • Guide the team in applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools using Agile development methodology.
  • Drive agility and operational efficiency in Systems Engineering and its associated processes and tools
