About The Position

AtkinsRéalis US Nuclear is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager for a remote position, located in their Oak Ridge, TN office. This role supports the design and development of small modular reactor and nuclear fuel cycle facility projects. The manager will lead and supervise a team of engineers and professionals responsible for system design, requirements development, system description maintenance, and procurement engineering. The position involves managing staff performance, making independent decisions regarding design and development, interfacing with senior management, and identifying and recruiting staff. The role requires communicating complex ideas and persuading others, often at senior levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience with a bachelor's degree, or nine (9) years' experience with a master's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing individuals or teams.
  • Strong communication skills in a challenging, multi-tiered environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to foster and achieve goal alignment among participants with differing interests.
  • Knowledge of key design standards and licensing requirements for commercial nuclear facilities required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Senior design or management professional on Commercial nuclear reactor projects.
  • Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and supervises a team of engineers and professionals who support the design of systems, structures and components for major small modular reactor, fuel fabrication, and fuel recycling facilities.
  • Develops and maintains functions and requirements.
  • Develops and maintains system descriptions.
  • Performs procurement engineering.
  • Manages staff performance.
  • Executes independent decisions and resolves important questions concerning the design and development of the small modular reactor.
  • Interfaces with senior technical managers, program managers, and all levels of management throughout the firm.
  • Identifies staffing needs, deficiencies and opportunities for recruitment of required staff.
  • Identifies, screens, recruits and orients qualified candidates to fill key vacancies.
  • Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
