Systems Engineering Lead
About The Position
SciTec, a subsidiary of Firefly Aerospace, is a defense contractor specializing in advanced technologies for U.S. National Security. With over 45 years of experience, SciTec develops innovative remote sensing algorithms, tools, and techniques for data exploitation in areas such as missile defense, intelligence, surveillance, & reconnaissance, space domain awareness, and aircraft survivability. SciTec exclusively works on U.S. government contracts requiring U.S. citizenship and cannot sponsor work visas. This role is for a Senior / Principal Systems Engineering Lead with expertise in microservices architectures, data center designs, and modular open systems architecture. The engineer will lead an integrated systems engineering and modeling team to develop operational concepts, refine requirements, and create architectural designs for a combined hardware/software data processing system, collaborating with customer representatives and SciTec staff.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience in software engineering, high-performance computing, or remote sensing data processing
- Demonstrated work experience in executing IEEE 15288 systems engineering processes
- Demonstrated familiarity with the use of Model Based Systems Engineering within a systems engineering organization
- Demonstrated work experience as a technical team leader
- U.S. citizenship
Nice To Haves
- A current security clearance, ideally a current TOP SECRET clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information
- Academic credentials or industry certification (e.g. INCOSE) in systems engineering.
- Experience with the design or operation of data center environments
- Experience with the design or operation of Kubernetes-based environments
- Experience with the design or operation of Overhead Persistent Infrared sensor systems, ground segments, or exploitation tooling
- Experience with system security architecture and NIST 800-53 / RMF compliance
- Experience with conducting data-driven trade studies, including the development and use of simulation tools.
- Direct familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering tools and techniques. Familiarity with the Cameo suite of tools is particularly desired.
Responsibilities
- Coordination with the acquisition program office and operational end-users to elicit, detail, and document operational concepts and stakeholder needs for the operation of a MOSA architecture hosting high-performance data processing applications.
- Development and analysis of system requirements which address identified stakeholder needs.
- Support to SciTec development teams in the design of system architectures which meet established requirements and align with customer concepts of operations.
- Coordination with integration, verification, and test teams to support requirements verification and validation.
- Managing the documentation of operational concepts, stakeholder needs, system requirements, and system architectures using Model-Based Systems Engineering tools.
- Staff mentoring and process improvement within the SciTec systems engineering team.
- Additional duties as required and assigned.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
