Systems Engineering Intern (Summer 2027)

RTX•El Segundo, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

RTX is offering an internship opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM). This role provides a foundation to work on complex problems in the aerospace and defense industry, advance skills, and contribute to a safer, more connected world. The intern will provide Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) services, collect and maintain field failure and depot repair data, and participate in Failure Review Board (FRB) meetings. The position involves conducting detailed performance evaluations using tools like MATLAB and Python, determining root causes of failures, and generating formal documentation for corrective actions. The intern will also review corrective action validations and generate final reports. Additionally, the role requires maintaining engineering specifications and drawings, providing production yield analysis, and utilizing technical and analytical skills to solve complex issues.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 30 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues in an academic or internship setting, or as part of a hobby.
  • Experience with data analysis, using tools such as Microsoft Office, Python, MATLAB and/or C++.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
