About The Position
The Boating Intelligence (BI) Design Lab is seeking a talented Systems Engineering Intern. The systems engineering intern will be tasked with workflows such as reviewing system architectures, setting up system tests, collecting sensor logs, testing solutions and/or deploying applications, analyzing test results and logs, and supporting multidisciplinary engineers in software or hardware development. This position will be working with internal teams on analyzing and reviewing vessel system architectures and helping identify areas of strength and improvement.
Requirements
- Permanent US Work authorization
- Current enrollment in a BS in System Engineering or other related fields at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
- Basic understanding of electro-mechanical systems
Nice To Haves
- Prior working experience with electro-mechanical systems
- Experience operating and/or working on vehicle systems, preferably boats or other marine vessels
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills and ability to work with other engineering disciplines
- Experience with a common computer language such as Python or C++
- Prior experience with common vehicle system architectures, communication protocols, and engineering testing tools such as MATLAB/Simulink or CAN
Responsibilities
- Support other engineering efforts with software and hardware development
- Set up and test systems as required
- Learn and understand existing system architectures
- Set up methods to measure and monitor system tests
- Specify system requirements
- Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure desired system results
Benefits
- Pay Range: $23.00-$26.00/hour
