Systems Engineering Intern
About The Position
RTX is offering an internship opportunity in the aerospace and defense industry. This role is with Collins Aerospace, specifically in the Electric Power Systems, Systems Integration department, located in Rockford, IL. The intern will work with cross-functional engineers and apply fundamental knowledge to system engineering tasks identified by a lead engineer. Responsibilities will cover the system lifecycle, including requirements engineering, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and project management. The intern will also prepare project documents, participate in project discussions and reviews, and provide support for administrative and technical analysis tasks. This internship serves as an opportunity to evaluate upcoming graduates for potential future employment and to showcase the value of working at RTX in Rockford.
Requirements
- Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
- Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
- Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Nice To Haves
- Scripting skills (TCL, Python, Java).
- Knowledge of MatLab Simulation and Simulink.
- Languages C/C++, VB.
Responsibilities
- Apply fundamental knowledge to immediate system engineering tasks identified by System lead Engineer.
- Engage in System engineering practices as assigned by the lead engineer that cover the system lifecycle.
- Prepare and publish the necessary project documents involved in the specification, design, testing, and deployment of software.
- Participate in customary project discussions, walk-throughs, reviews and inspections.
- Provide a flexible and intelligent aide to engineers tasked with handling project administration and technical analysis tasks.
