Raytheon’s Surface Radars and Sensors (SR&S) Center, Huntsville Alabama Department, is seeking a Systems Engineer I to support radar test operations across both ground and flight test activities. In this role, you will contribute to a wide range of engineering efforts, including executing tests for radar development events, performing radar performance analysis, developing verification strategies for advanced radar capabilities and software builds, and implementing those strategies within Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) or other simulation environments. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams while also working independently when required. Your responsibilities may include diagnosing system behavior, investigating anomalies, verifying performance against requirements, integrating hardware and software components, conducting data analysis of simulation and live-test results, preparing technical documentation and briefings, participating in readiness reviews, and maintaining configuration control of test artifacts and procedures. The role also involves occasional local and non-local travel to Raytheon and government facilities to support test execution, technical interchange meetings, and on-site integration activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) obtained by start date
  • Experience with test integration, test methodologies, simulation-based test environments, and data analysis.
  • Experience with basic scripting and/or software development (MATLAB, Python, C/C++, and/or Linux (Red Hat Linux).
  • Systems engineering experience, specifically in integration, verification and system testing.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.​
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance​

Responsibilities

  • Perform performance analysis using engineering tools and apply results to Ground Test and Flight Test activities.
  • Support data analysis tasks by collaborating with group leads, senior management, and government personnel.
  • Document analysis results in technical reports and briefings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to engineering activities including systems validation, modeling and simulation, requirements analysis, data analysis, and ground and flight test assessments for strategic missile defense radars.
  • Assist with test planning, execution of verification and validation events, analysis of results, and provide status updates and reach-back support to program engineers and leads.
  • Participate in peer reviews, gate reviews, and test readiness reviews.
  • Ensure test and evaluation activities follow established software and hardware procedures.
