Airworthiness/System Safety Engineer Position Requirements
Requirements
Working knowledge of DO-178 and DO-254 development processes
Working knowledge of ARP4754/ARP4761 and MIL-STD-882E
Working knowledge of MIL-HDBK-516
Working knowledge of USAF Airworthiness Circular 17-01 (AC-17-01)
Familiarity with reliability assessments such as FMEA, FMECA, FTA, FRACAS and RCCA
Nice To Haves
Reporting hazardous materials (NAS-411)
Assessing Human Machine Interfaces (MIL-STD-1472)
STAMP/STPA
Responsibilities
Generate System Safety Program Plans, Hazard Analyses and Safety Assessment Reports IAW MIL-STD-882E
Consult with other engineering staff to evaluate interfaces between hardware, software, and operational performance requirements of the overall system
Work closely with Government customers to ensure that the System Safety requirements are defined and implemented in a way that will allow for the verification and validation of the system
Ability to internalize requirements definition and document System Safety artifacts in DOORS and/or Cameo
Present system safety risk assessment at Customer design review meetings
