About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer to support our Cyber Mission business unit located in Annapolis Junction, MD. The team supports multiple products that automate manual tasks so that mission customers can focus on more complex issues. The team employs Agile methodologies and DevOps principles to ensure that high-quality, reliable software is delivered to the customer. The position is to be performed in a contractor facility which allows for flexible work schedules. The Systems Engineer is expected to analyze user’s needs, draft concept of operations documents, and use high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing system requirements and participates in design and development activities, guide the users in formulating requirements, advise on alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies. The candidate may also plan and conduct system verification activities. The ideal candidate would also have experience providing support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems. Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, etc. Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems. Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph is required
  • IAT Level 1 or higher required
  • Bachelor’s degree in system engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required
  • Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
  • Fourteen (14) years experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years experience as an SA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Six (6) years of experience (combined) with Unix, Linux.

  • Develop system design alternatives that consider life cycle cost, reuse, complexity, risk, system expansion, and growth
  • Maintain knowledge of current and evolving agency, national, and international standards applicable to the system development of interest
  • Recommend a preferred solution based on selection criteria
  • Provide technical direction for the full systems engineering life cycle
  • Fully define interfaces in terms of origination, destination, stimulus, and data characteristics for software
