About The Position

The Field Intelligence Operations Division is seeking a skilled and motivated Mid-Level Systems Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, with experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT infrastructures. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of our systems, while also participating in project planning and execution. The Mid-Level Systems Engineer will play a key role in optimizing system performance, troubleshooting issues, and supporting ongoing IT initiatives. The team is collaborative and strives to ensure security practices and procedures are understood, implemented, and enforced.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or 8-12 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree may be considered. Higher education may also reduce the number of minimum required years.
  • 5 years of experience in systems engineering or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in system design, implementation, and maintenance within a complex IT environment.
  • Proficiency with operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux) and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell) and scripting languages.
  • Strong understanding of CPU and GPU environments, network protocols, storage solutions, and cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO).
  • Versed in diverse applications such as, Sharepoint, JIRA/Confluence, Tenable and related scanning tools, and more.
  • Versed in Microsoft infrastructure, to include SE, 365, PowerApps, and more.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance from the Department of Energy.
  • Must pass a pre-placement drug test and participate in an ongoing random drug testing program.
  • May be subject to random polygraph testing due to the SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of system architectures to meet business and technical requirements.
  • Create and maintain detailed system documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and procedures.
  • Install, configure, and integrate hardware and software components in line with system design.
  • Implement automation scripts and tools to streamline system operations and improve efficiency.
  • Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Implement scalability solutions such as load balancing and clustering to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Ensure systems meet security and compliance standards by implementing appropriate controls and conducting regular audits.
  • Collaborate with the security team to address vulnerabilities and ensure the protection of critical data.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for complex system issues, working closely with other IT teams to resolve problems.
  • Assist in responding to system outages or failures, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Work with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to support IT projects from planning through implementation.
  • Contribute to the successful completion of system-related projects by providing expertise and technical guidance.
