This role involves assessing the operational effectiveness and suitability of existing and emerging technologies, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). The Systems Engineer will assess system capabilities and provide information for the development of capability improvement plans to satisfy joint requirements and operational needs. They will also identify possible non-material solutions such as concepts of operation (CONOPS) and JTTPs. When directed by the Government, the engineer will support JPRA-led demonstrations and experiments during military exercises, including planning and executing experiments, conducting analysis, and generating system assessment reports. The position also supports the development of interoperability requirements and standards. Collaboration with applicable Services, Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Inter-agency, and private sector entities is expected to identify and develop design requirements and improvement plans for existing and emerging technologies and capabilities. The role may involve planning and conducting Government/Industry forums or Working Groups, and participating in military exercises, experiments, conferences, seminars, or working groups, with the requirement to prepare After Action Reports (AARs) within 5 working days. Regular travel is a core responsibility. The engineer will author documents at the Service Headquarters, Joint Staff, or Combatant Command Headquarters levels and provide leadership for highly complex activities with minimal direction. Analysis and development of innovative approaches to personnel recovery problem issues are also key aspects of this role.
