About The Position

ThinkTek is seeking a Systems Engineer to support a Department of War client in the National Capital Region. This role supports the deployment of an emerging secure wireless capability, spanning hardware and software integration into a classified network environment. Work covers network integration and cybersecurity accreditation, alongside senior engineers, the technology vendor, and Government stakeholders, as the capability moves from design through deployment. The position suits an engineer early in their career who has foundational networking and security skills and wants to build depth quickly.

Requirements

  • Active Secret security clearance
  • DoD 8140 IAT Level II baseline certification, such as Security+ CE, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Approximately 2 to 4 years of systems, network engineering, or IT infrastructure experience in DoD or Federal environments, including routing, switching, and secure network integration
  • Working knowledge of network fundamentals and DoD hardening standards such as DISA STIGs
  • Exposure to DoD security accreditation processes such as RMF or ATO
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Current SCI access eligibility or active TS/SCI
  • Familiarity with the NSA CSfC program, its Capability Packages, and the registration process
  • Familiarity with enterprise wireless infrastructure, such as Aruba or comparable access points and controllers
  • Experience with site surveys and/or wireless troubleshooting
  • Vendor certification such as Cisco CCNA
  • Higher-level DoD 8140 certification, such as CCNP Security or CASP+
  • Experience integrating new or emerging technologies into DoD networks
  • Experience working in secure or classified facilities
  • Briefing technical content to Government stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on configuration, integration, and testing of network and security infrastructure within a classified environment
  • Support integration of the capability into the existing network, coordinating deployment activities through established change management processes
  • Contribute to the NSA Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) registration package and support engagement with the NSA CSfC Program Management Office
  • Support development of Risk Management Framework artifacts required to achieve and maintain an Authority to Operate
  • Support cybersecurity compliance, including STIG application, vulnerability remediation, and configuration hardening
  • Support coordination across vendor, engineering, and accreditation teams
  • Produce technical documentation, network diagrams, integration and test plans, and as-built records
