About The Position

Designs and develops next-generation RF, digital, and optical satellite communications systems and payload architectures. Supports trade studies and proposals for space communication systems, and defines and verifies requirements and interfaces for communication units, subsystems, and systems. Develops system-level concepts of operations (CONOPS), performs functional analysis, and analyzes and decomposes RF and optical performance. Supports system-level integration and validation of satellite payloads. Performs analyses and simulations of space communication systems, including link analysis, signal distortion, system capacity, reliability, and performance. Develops analysis tools using MATLAB and object-oriented software platforms, and develops and verifies system algorithms against functional and performance requirements. Oversees the design and build of satellite RF and digital payload units by internal teams and external suppliers. Conducts design reviews and requirements sell-off, and supports system test preparation, execution, troubleshooting, and verification. This is a six-month contract with potential for extension, located in El Segundo, California.
