As we continue to grow across our four U.S. locations, we are looking for an Infrastructure Support professional to join our Global Infrastructure team. In this role, you will provide hands-on, on-site IT infrastructure support while collaborating with colleagues worldwide to deliver secure, reliable, and standardized infrastructure services across Moderna's global footprint. You will play a key role in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of local infrastructure while contributing to global technology initiatives and operational excellence. Join an IT team that enables biotech innovation. We are seeking a Systems Engineer with experience in compute, storage, virtualization, and infrastructure automation. This role focuses on building resilient, scalable, and high-performing infrastructure across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of experience in systems engineering focused on compute, virtualization, and storage.
  • Proficiency with virtualization platforms and automation tools.
  • Experience in Linux patching and configuration.
  • Familiarity with backup, recovery, and monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Strong scripting and communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. person (citizen, permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to export control laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in regulated environments (e.g., GxP) or willingness to learn compliance frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of storage architectures, SAN zoning, and performance optimization.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., virtualization, cloud, backup, storage solutions).
  • Interest in or ability to grow into AI infrastructure support (e.g., SQL, APIs).

Responsibilities

  • Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Red Hat, Nutanix).
  • Manage Cisco UCS and Dell server platforms.
  • Manage and enhance enterprise container platforms, such as Red Hat OpenShift, enabling containerized workloads, platform automation, monitoring, and lifecycle management while ensuring security, scalability, and performance.
  • Provision, monitor, and maintain virtual machines across on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Apply patches and security updates; ensure platform reliability and performance.
  • Automate patching and system updates using configuration management tools such as Anisible.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and application teams.
  • Operate monitoring and automation tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack, Aria Operations, SaltStack, Ansible).
  • Implement automated configuration and deployment using agent-based or agentless tools.
  • Administer enterprise storage platforms (Pure Storage, NetApp, Dell EMC, or similar).
  • Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and routine storage management.
  • Support hybrid backup strategies using tools like Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik or similar.
  • Maintain SAN technologies including zoning and connectivity (e.g., Brocade, Cisco MDS, or similar).
  • Perform patching and configuration on Linux-based systems.
  • Automate updates and compliance tasks using Ansible, SaltStack, or equivalent.
  • Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, YAML, or JSON.
  • Support integration with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Manage cloud resources via portals and CLI tools.
  • Serve as an escalation point for infrastructure incidents.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
  • Document SOPs, operational runbooks, and recovery procedures.
  • Participate in a global 24/7 on-call rotation.
