About The Position

Pellera is seeking Systems Engineers for its z Managed Services practice. The role focuses on systems programming in IBM z environments, with emphasis on DB2, CICS, z/OS, and related independent software vendor products. Engineers maintain z environments as an in-house resource or as part of a managed team and provide support services to Pellera clients on a project or managed basis. The position supports customer technical excellence through troubleshooting and resolving issues, coordinating with software vendors, collaborating with internal and external resources, implementing and tuning system software, and providing storage management, disaster recovery, hardware upgrade, performance monitoring, capacity monitoring, and environment documentation services. Engineers may also contribute to proposals and presentations, identify additional service opportunities, and serve as trusted advisors to clients to ensure solutions meet business objectives. The role requires travel and includes prolonged desk and computer work and occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.

Requirements

Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or equivalent required.
At least five years of experience in customer-facing environments, with good presentation skills.
Experience maintaining z environments as an in-house resource or as part of a managed team.
Experience with standard IBM installation and maintenance procedures.
Expertise with core IBM tools and utilities.
Skill with z-related ISV products.
Ability to work with IBM UNIX System Services.
Strong communication skills.
Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with the ability and willingness to follow processes and procedures.
Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Ability to multitask.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products.
Ability to travel.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer; ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Nice To Haves

A minimum of ten years of z-related experience, including bundled operations, applications, and systems programming.
IBM Certified Specialist credentials and related industry certifications.
Experience with DB2, CICS, telecommunications, security, automation, mainframe-compatible programming languages, Java, and/or WLM.

Responsibilities

Provide z-related support services to Pellera clients on a project or managed basis.
Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve customer issues.
Assist with engagement and escalation of issues with software vendors.
Work with internal and external resources to develop and deliver solutions for customers.
Implement, customize, debug, and tune system software.
Provide storage management, disaster recovery, and hardware upgrade services.
Monitor system performance and capacity.
Document customer environments.
Contribute to proposals and presentations for management and clients.
Help identify additional service opportunities.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and ensure solutions meet their business objectives.
Maintain IBM z environments using standard installation and maintenance procedures.
