About The Position

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Systems Engineer (Mid-Level) to support government programs by providing technical support. This role involves acting as a SETA contractor, collaborating closely with government technical teams to drive program success through efficient planning, execution, and risk management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, with proven experience in government and defense-related projects, and the ability to draw on independent research and past expertise to address complex technical, policy, and programmatic challenges.

Requirements

  • At least 2-5 years of experience in an engineering field.
  • Experience supporting technical efforts in and balancing multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and management concepts.
  • Ability to perform research and analysis on technical topics.
  • An active Secret security clearance is required to start.
  • Candidate must be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with technical architectures or system-of-systems design.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and processes.
  • Experience with or interest in test and evaluation or transition strategies.
  • Exposure to advanced Modeling and Simulation (M&S) activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly.
  • Proficient in writing documentation and reporting with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support Day-to-Day Technical Efforts: Assist in daily technical activities as identified by the Government, including planning, reviewing, analyzing, and documenting processes to help achieve program objectives. This may include leading small, focused teams on specific tasks.
  • Provide Technical Support and Analysis: Serve as a technical contributor to the Government's team, helping to foster shared understanding and streamline execution.
  • Offer analysis and insights based on engineering principles to enhance team performance.
  • Program Planning and Execution: Provide valuable input to the Government's program strategy by assisting with the analysis of technical risks, policy implications, and programmatic challenges.
  • Assisting in technical reviews to validate system designs and implementations.
  • Preparing reports, briefings, and documentation for government stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to integrate technical solutions.
  • Staying abreast of advancements in your engineering field to inform program decisions.
