About The Position

The EEC SI - Elgin Experience Center Systems Integration department is a staging facility responsible for designing, programming, optimizing, testing, and demonstrating two-way radio systems to public safety and commercial market customers. These demonstrations are performed for customers onsite as an important part of Factory Acceptance. The Engineering Team works with field teams to develop the fine design details of a Radio Communications System and to support the fundamental objective of Total Customer Satisfaction. In this role, you will be an active member of a team of developmental engineers, systems engineers, system technicians, and field personnel to understand, design, and test complex communications and information systems to meet customer requirements and schedule deadlines. You will become familiar with the EEC SI workflow processes and procedures to program and integrate equipment for a fully functional system. As a system staging engineer, you will be an active participant and driving force behind the implementation, optimization, troubleshooting, testing, and auditing of systems throughout the staging process. You will provide detailed system design drawings/documentation, as well as hands-on support for systems testing and troubleshooting. You will serve as a focal point & catalyst for the resolution of product and system problems in complex communications and information systems and develop new methods to improve performance, ease of installation, diagnostics, quality, and cycle time of complex systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Engineer Technology
  • 1+ years experience
  • IT Systems Engineering experience
  • Aggressive problem-solving skills and the ability to get things done in a multi-organizational environment.
  • Effective communications, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of two-way radio systems, wireless data systems
  • LAN/WAN, Windows, and TCP/IP networking skills are required
  • VM and OVF high-level working and design knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, Knowledge of active directory and virtual machines.

Nice To Haves

  • Astro/MotoTRBO Motorola Communication systems experience is desired
  • LTE, P25, Tetra knowledge is helpful
  • Basic Unix/shell scripting skills a plus.

Responsibilities
