About The Position

Genesis10 is seeking a Systems Engineer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution. This role involves participating in the design, development, and implementation of systems engineering activities, including OS technical support, systems programming, and data center capabilities. The candidate will perform platform health checks, apply patches, and assist in upgrades. The position also requires the ability to triage and troubleshoot Java, .Net, and Oracle applications on the back-end platform. The role requires navigating product outages, identifying performance bottlenecks, spotting anomalous system behavior, and determining root causes of incidents. Independent judgment is needed to make sound decisions and solve problems. Participation in an on-call support rotation is also required.

Requirements

• 5+ years of systems engineering experience
• Experience with one or more Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as Aternity, Gomez, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, GlassBox, or Splunk
• Experience in Windows and Linux Engineering, SQL, or Linux Shell Scripting
• Basic knowledge of Middleware Technologies such as Weblogic, WebSphere, or Tomcat
• Excellent analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of resource utilization/capacity planning and ability to identify performance bottlenecks in a system
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in team settings on complex production issues
• Ability to influence and direct activities across a matrixed organization

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics
• Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin
• Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, development, and implementation of systems engineering activities, including OS technical support, systems programming, and data center capabilities
• Take responsibility for components of complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities
• Assist in the establishment of input/output processes and working parameters for hardware compatibility and coordination of subsystems design
• Serve as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource, providing technical knowledge and capabilities as a team member and individual contributor
• Perform platform health checks, apply patches, and assist in upgrading the platform and agents
• Triage and troubleshoot Java, .Net, and Oracle applications on the back-end platform
• Navigate through a product outage, identify performance bottlenecks, spot anomalous system behavior, and determine the root cause of incidents
• Use independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions and take action to solve problems
• Participate in an on-call support rotation
