About The Position

Areté is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join their team designing, building, and testing electro-optic mechanical stabilized systems. The Systems Engineer will execute multiple aspects of the systems engineering discipline, including requirements decomposition into software/hardware functions and system integration and test activities to ensure end-to-end system requirements closure. The system engineer will interact with development teams, production teams, program leadership, and customers regarding technical considerations and issue closure associated with program capabilities. The system engineer will work with other engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, optical, and software, with analysis for different electro-optic mechanical stabilized systems. This is a full-time, non-exempt, non-supervisory position based in their Niwot, CO office.

Requirements

  • Eligible to obtain and hold a Secret / Top Secret clearance.
  • Hands-on knowledge of precision assemblies and testing of hardware.
  • Degree background in Systems, Optical, Electrical, Software, Mechanical Engineering for electro-optic systems and/or lasers.
  • Engineer 2: 0-5 yrs. experience with BS/BA or 0-3 yrs. experience with MS/MA
  • Staff Engineer: 5+ yrs. experience with BS/BA or 3+ yrs. experience with MS/MA
  • U.S. citizenship is required to meet position eligibility.
  • Successful passage of a criminal background screen is required to meet position eligibility.
  • Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Successful passage of a Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test is required to meet position eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Systems Engineering and requirements management tools such as Jama, IBM Rational DOORS, and Magic Cyber Systems Engineer (formerly Cameo)
  • Working knowledge or conceptual understanding of optics/lasers
  • Ability to write scripts for test automation and data analysis
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools like Agile, Scrum
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, such as MIL-STD, MIL-HDBK, ISO, ASME

Responsibilities

  • Execute multiple aspects of the systems engineering discipline, to include requirements decomposition into software/hardware functions and system integration and test activities to ensure end to end system requirements closure.
  • Interact with the development teams, production teams, program leadership and customer regarding technical considerations and issue closure associated with our programs capabilities.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical, optical, and software with analysis for different electro-optic mechanical stabilized systems.
  • Develop detailed test plans and procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and resources are available.
  • Assist in the development of requirements derivation, requirements traceability, systems integration & test, performance verification.
  • Conduct system integration testing to ensure compatibility and performance.
  • Document findings, generate test reports, and present results to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software components into a cohesive system.
  • Present engineering material in life cycle design reviews.
  • Support test events at multiple test event sites.
