About The Position

The Systems Engineer is the district’s highest-level technical contributor, responsible for the design, configuration, and ongoing integrity of core infrastructure, including networking, servers, identity management, endpoint management, and security tooling. This role functions with a high degree of autonomy and is expected to own complex technical domains from end-to-end, from planning through implementation and documentation.

Requirements

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; OR equivalent professional experience in a comparable role
  • Minimum of 2-5 years experience administering enterprise or organizational network/systems infrastructure
  • Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking: switching, routing, VLANs, IPAM, and spanning tree
  • Next-gen firewall features and policy design
  • Wireless network design and centrally managed controller platforms
  • Windows Server administration
  • Google Workspace administration
  • Endpoint management platforms(SCCM, Intune, etc.)
  • ChromeOS administration
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Adaptability to dynamic environment where priorities and technologies evolve regularly

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in K-12 districts or similarly complex multi-site environments is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Network Administration Design, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, including Layer 2 and 3 switching, VLAN segmentation, IP routing, and fiber backhaul between sites
  • Manage enterprise firewall platforms including policy creation and management, in addition to ongoing security posture maintenance
  • Administer wireless infrastructure using centrally managed controllers, including deployment of access points, coverage planning, and performance troubleshooting
  • Maintain and enforce network access control policies
  • Configure and manage content filtering systems aligned to instructional and security requirements
  • Server and Systems Administration Administer and maintain district servers, including Windows Server environments, virtualization platforms, and related services
  • Manage district backup and recovery systems, ensuring data integrity and documented recovery procedures
  • Identity & Endpoint Management Administer Active Directory and Google Workspace, including group policy management, organizational unit structure, and access delegation
  • Manage endpoint platforms including Windows device imaging and deployment
  • Support district’s information security posture through proactive monitoring, patching, and endpoint protection
  • Maintain working knowledge of FERPA and student data privacy agreements as they apply to systems configurations
