About The Position

Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) is seeking a motivated Associate Systems Engineer to support / join the Vertical Lift (VL) program Requirements & System Architecture team located in Ridley Park, PA. The selected candidate will report to the Requirements and System Architecture team. Boeing Vertical Lift products support the vital missions of defense forces around the world and provide protection and relief in a constantly changing geopolitical environment. The Boeing Philadelphia Requirements and Architecture (R&A) team supports requirement development, definition, and verification as part of the systems engineering integration effort. The R&A team is also responsible for defining and managing an integrated architecture across the different product teams for various production programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 1+ years of education or experience working in a team-oriented environment with multiple stakeholders (engineering, programmatic, scheduling, finance, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Systems Engineering experience or education
  • Experience with a Requirements Management Tool (DOORS, Slate, Enovia, etc.)
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools and techniques (Cameo/MSOSA, Rhapsody, Core, etc)
  • Experience working with the US Department of Defense (DoD)/Department of War (DoW) customers or international defense customers

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development and decomposition of customer requirements into contractual design and performance requirements.
  • Develops corresponding requirements verification plans.
  • Leads technical integration with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E).
  • Supports verification execution for vertical lift platforms, including artifact discovery, verification of evidence against design and performance requirements, and verification acceptance through collaborative customer reviews.
  • Interfaces with design teams to ensure compliance with baseline system architecture.
  • Supports integration of multiple engineering disciplines within various design IPTs.
  • Develops a working knowledge of multiple engineering commodities.
  • Utilizes model-based systems engineering (MBSE) techniques to support the continued operational effectiveness of multiple legacy air vehicle systems.
  • Exposes individuals to various aspects of the systems engineering process throughout the product lifecycle, beginning with concept of operations, into preliminary and critical design phases, through production and into fleet support.
