About The Position

An IT Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and management of IT systems while adhering to the credit union’s standards and industry best practices. This role focuses on hands-on technical work, learning, and contributing to team projects under the guidance of senior engineers. We're seeking an experienced IT Systems Engineer with a strong background in Linux administration, automation, and cloud infrastructure to help design, implement, and support the critical platforms that power our organization. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building reliable, scalable, and secure systems while leveraging modern technologies, cloud services, virtualization, and Infrastructure-as-Code. Working alongside a team of experienced engineers, you'll play a hands-on role in administering and improving enterprise infrastructure, automating operational processes, and supporting highly available environments that serve our members and employees.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in systems engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or systems administration.
  • Strong experience administering Linux operating systems in production environments.
  • Experience deploying, managing, or supporting Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with enterprise infrastructure technologies including virtualization, cloud services, storage, networking, and identity management.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting containerized infrastructure
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar automation frameworks.
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise identity platforms and security-focused environments.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure solutions across Linux, Windows, virtualization, cloud, storage, and container platforms.
  • Administer and optimize Linux-based systems and services to ensure performance, reliability, and security.
  • Support containerized workloads across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Assist in the design and maintenance of highly available, scalable infrastructure architectures.
  • Contribute to Infrastructure-as-Code, configuration management, and deployment automation initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate manual processes and improve operational efficiency through automation using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Experience using Git-based source control repositories to manage, track, and maintain infrastructure and automation code.
  • Support Microsoft 365, Azure, SaaS platforms, and cloud-based infrastructure services.
  • Administer Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions, including user provisioning, deprovisioning, and role management.
  • Partner with security and infrastructure teams to maintain appropriate access controls and compliance standards.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure and application issues across multiple environments.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to reduce recurring incidents.
  • Ensure systems remain secure, compliant, resilient, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Research emerging technologies and provide recommendations for platform modernization and operational improvements.
  • Document system architectures, configurations, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, developers, security teams, and business partners.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stay current on Linux, cloud, automation, and cybersecurity best practices.
