About The Position

The selected candidate will support the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Enroute and Oceanic Integration and Interoperability Facility (EOIIF) at the William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Pomona, NJ. This position will provide direct support to the Oceanic Integration and Interoperability Facility (OIIF) Laboratory and serve as a key technical resource supporting laboratory operations, systems administration, testing activities, and customer demonstrations. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining laboratory readiness, supporting FAA users and stakeholders, and ensuring critical systems remain operational and current.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience supporting enterprise systems, laboratory environments, systems integration activities, or operational test environments
  • Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems
  • Experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco network infrastructure utilizing Cisco IOS
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, operating system, and network-related issues
  • Experience supporting system integration and testing
  • Ability to independently manage technical activities and provide support to laboratory users and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the FAA ATOP system
  • Experience with the FAA En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) system
  • Experience supporting FAA laboratory, research, testing, or operational environments
  • Experience developing and executing formal test procedures and documenting test results
  • Familiarity with scripting and programming languages such as Bash, Perl, Python, Java, and JavaScript

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact for the Advanced Technologies and Procedures (ATOP) OIIF Laboratory
  • Provide administration, maintenance, and operational support of laboratory systems, networks, and infrastructure supporting FAA research, testing, and operational evaluation activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, operating system, network, and user-related issues to maintain laboratory availability and reliability
  • Initialize and configure the ATOP system for tours
  • Initialize, configure, and operate the ATOP system in support of test activities, including ATOP/ERAM Interface Testing and ERAM Operational Evaluation (Ops Eval) Testing
  • Execute and document test procedures, test results, discrepancies, and corrective actions
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco network infrastructure supporting laboratory operations
  • Coordinate and implement software, hardware, and configuration upgrades, including maintaining ATOP laboratory systems at current Computer Software (CAS) baseline levels
  • Support and maintain laboratory software tools and automation scripts
  • Collaborate with FAA personnel, engineers, researchers, and contractors to support laboratory objectives and modernization initiatives
