About The Position

At Beyond New Horizons (BNH), located at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee, the mission is to operate and maintain critical infrastructure essential for groundbreaking ground testing. This role involves commanding a diverse array of powerful systems, including massive electric motors, compressors, and sophisticated control and data acquisition technologies. The work is crucial for providing customers with vital data to validate designs and ensure flight-worthiness for next-generation aerospace systems, by creating the extreme conditions vehicles must endure. This is a dynamic role, not siloed into a single function, where the engineer is expected to contribute across the full lifecycle of systems. Responsibilities are varied, ranging from deep calculations to overseeing installations and developing maintenance procedures, requiring a versatile and proactive engineer eager to apply their skills to diverse challenges.

Requirements

  • BS degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering from an ABET accredited university plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a related environment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC

Responsibilities

  • Champion a culture of safety and practical technical rigor by ensuring all projects adhere to the highest engineering standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Impact the current and future of test capabilities by gathering stakeholder requirements, performing gap analyses, and fielding modifications to enhance and modernize critical infrastructure.
  • Create the blueprint for mission success by preparing detailed specifications, statements of work, complex calculations, and comprehensive integrated systems engineering studies.
  • Promote culture of safety and reliability in validating systems, including detailed design, system procurements, installation and commissioning plans, and implementing safety hazard analyses and reliability plans to guarantee system integrity and safety.
  • Provide technical guidance on the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex systems.
  • Act as a central engineering resource, interfacing with project managers, design engineers, systems engineers, and operations teams to ensure systems are mission-ready and maintenance is expertly planned.
  • Clearly present technical information, project updates, and causal analyses to peers, management, clients, and key stakeholders.
  • Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.
