About The Position

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an experienced System Safety Engineer for their Littleton, CO facility. This role involves analyzing hardware and software, establishing and maintaining system safety requirements to support mission results, and supporting the Systems Engineering team throughout the system lifecycle. The engineer will contribute to trade studies, requirements allocation, interface definition, and the translation of customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. They will also support Systems Engineering during system integration and verification/validation of system requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience using System Safety Standards
  • Experience with the development, documentation, and verification of system requirements
  • Expertise in the application of System Safety design and operations safety principles to include experience with hazard identification, analysis, risk mitigation and/or associated deliverable documentation
  • Active and current Top secret clearance required with an ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance
  • US citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using MIL-STD-882E and AFSPCMAN 91-710, or other relevant industry and/or range safety standards
  • Experience defining safety requirements, influencing design to integrate safety requirements, and verifying safety requirements
  • Software system safety experience
  • Experience participating in System Safety Working Groups
  • Experience with Satellite Programs
  • Familiarity with MBSE
  • Familiarity with DOORs
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage and interact in group meeting/working environments with team members, development organizations and customers
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and/or update Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analyses (FHAs), System Hazard Analyses (SHA), and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR)
  • Prepare presentations and participate in Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various working groups and safety review meetings
  • Develop and/or update System Safety documents to support Customer, Range Safety, and contractual requirements
  • Review and provide input to test procedures for adherence to System Safety requirements
  • Coordinate with test range safety teams and writing range safety reports to support testing
  • Development and maintenance of a Hazard Tracking System (HTS) used to document real and potential hazards, their assessments, and their respective mitigation's
