About The Position

The Senior Systems Engineer is a subject matter expert across VFX technologies, responsible for architecting, maintaining, and supporting systems and infrastructure that supports core business activities. You will lead initiatives and projects around deploying, maintaining and improving infrastructure, partnering with your peers across our business units and sites as well as mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux and Windows server, framed within the VFX industry and VFX workflows.
  • Deep expertise in systems engineering.
  • Proven experience managing infrastructure and services at a site and business that operates within as a global company, between many sites.
  • Strong understanding of Linux and Windows Desktop and Servers, and MacOS Desktops environments.
  • Experience with usage of Powershell and Python for automation of Engineering tasks.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining Windows Server technologies such as Active Directory.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as Proxmox.
  • Experience with Postgres and other database technologies and concepts.
  • Strong understanding of core networking principles and supporting protocols such as VPN.
  • Experience implement and managing monitoring and alerting systems such as Zabbix, LibreNMS, Grafana.
  • An understanding of remote workflows and their supporting technology such as HP Anyware and RGS.
  • Understanding of MPA/TPN content security initiatives and controls.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
  • A desire to mentor other members of the team.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds for datacenter tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Fiber Channel SAN experience
  • Video routing and/or imaging concepts.
  • Prior experience in VFX and media & entertainment environments is a huge asset.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, deploy, and maintain Linux and Windows desktop and server infrastructure, as well as MacOS Desktop environments.
  • Collaborate with IT, support, and engineering teams to align infrastructure with business needs.
  • Document systems and workflows, ensuring they are kept up to date.
  • Contribute to process improvement and workflows across teams.
  • Participate in company wide IT projects and initiatives.
  • Assist with datacenter operations including racking, cabling, and hardware lifecycle.
  • Mentoring other team members.
  • Administer and maintain supporting infrastructure: Linux Servers (Rocky), Windows Desktops and Servers (Windows 10, Windows 11), Proxmox Infrastructure and related, Core and edge networking switches, VPN technology, DNS and DHCP, License servers (e.g., RLM, FlexLM), Any other technology supporting the business and end-users.
  • Work on site 3 days a week.
  • Provide escalation support to on-call staff when required.
