Lockheed Martin Space in Huntsville, AL has an immediate opening for a Software Safety Engineer to help field a new missile defense system, Long Range Hypersonic Weapon, that the nation urgently needs. In this role, you will use your expertise to ensure that safety is crafted into hardware and software products and that controls are incorporated and remain effective while assuring compliance to safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college in technical discipline (e.g. engineering field) or equivalent discipline ( e.g. math, physics, chemistry, etc.). and 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
  • Familiar with software engineering languages and associated processes across the software lifecycle.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • USC is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Software Safety with strong technical skills in performing hazard analyses, identifying software safety requirements, developing fault trees, and recommending risk mitigation.
  • Documenting software testing and objective evidence for risk characterization.
  • Prior experience working with U.S. Army or US Navy customers
  • Current Secret Security Clearance
