About The Position

SAIC is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to support the Space Reactor-1 (SR-1) Freedom Nuclear Power Module (NPM) Verification and Validation (V&V) efforts. SR-1 will demonstrate nuclear electric propulsion and provide a path to higher powered and longer duration Mars missions. Supporting the SR-1 NPM Lead Systems Engineer, the selected candidate will be the technical lead for NPM V&V Planning and Execution.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the system is verified and validated using the defined mission success criteria
• Defining verification methods for all requirements
• Defining and maintaining the Verification Matrix to ensure industry partner’s V&V plans align with system-level V&V
• Ensuring the NPM V&V Plan is in-line with the SR-1 Vehicle V&V Plan
• Coordinating subsystem and system level test planning for requirement closure criteria
• Validation of mission requirements and concept of operations
• Collaborating with the Integration & Test and External Interfaces technical leads
• Being the interface to the with the mission level V&V planning effort
