About The Position

Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems (RMS) delivers advanced naval combat systems, automation technologies, and mission critical solutions for the U.S. Navy and international partners. Within the Autonomy Intelligence Maritime Solutions Integrated Engineering (AIMS IE) organization, the Machinery Controls & Automation Products department provides the control system capabilities that enable safe, reliable, and efficient shipboard operations across multiple platforms and customers. Our work demands deep technical rigor, disciplined execution, and forward looking innovation. The Systems Engineer Sr. will be supporting all of the Machinery Controls and Automation programs within RMS. This position will be responsible for performing system integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. It ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. The role involves performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, requirements design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. This position requires the ability to work in an accelerated team environment leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team for the Machinery Controls Product Line.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or STEM related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering.
  • Experience with requirements development, understanding of system architecture, integration, and verification.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, ICDs, and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Familiarity with MBSE, SysML, Cameo, or digital engineering tools.
  • Background in embedded control systems, networks, or real time architectures.
  • Experience with hardware/software integration and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Navy systems, DoD acquisition, or maritime platforms.
  • Ability to lead technical teams, drive decisions, and manage technical risk.
  • Experience developing test plans, verification matrices, and system level documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Performs system integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, requirements design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Work closely with the AIMS organization and demonstrate technical knowledge in Agile System Development Methodologies, System Test and Verification, Product Integration and Verification, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence & Autonomy, Model based analysis, Interface definition, and Cross functional collaboration.
