As a Systems Engineer Principal, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of customer. Perform highly complex systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end. Perform engineering fix of mission IT systems (Tier 3) function consists of complex problem solving and non-routine maintenance of MOD mission IT systems requiring system-specific expertise and research. Maintain a configuration management database (CMDB) and manage the configuration of MOD mission IT software executables to environments. Develop configuration changes to the MOD mission IT baseline that result from Incident or Problem resolutions. Identify Enterprise software required by MOD mission IT systems to include which system the software is associated with and any other details required by the Enterprise Software Asset Management (ESAM) office. Assess availability of IAVA patches, provide IAVA testing and recommendation of MOD mission IT baseline acceptance of system patches for integration. Provide technical support for Enterprise Security Service (ESS) solutions required on MOD mission IT systems to include but not limited to: host-based security agent software, vulnerability scanning agent software, enterprise log management agent software, and enterprise configuration baseline management agent software. Perform necessary remediation efforts resultant of tasks of MOD mission IT systems and ensure timely reporting in client’s management systems. Provide platform engineering support for Linux and Microsoft client- and server-based operating systems. Provide network engineering support for Cisco and Juniper equipment. Coordinate troubleshooting of MOD mission IT systems with the vendor when an issue arises with vendor-supported equipment (e.g. firmware patches). Prepare, define, document, and maintain interface and compatibility requirements for new and existing mission IT systems, and aid the government in communicating these requirements to client’s Acquisition Offices for incorporation into future system requirements. Oversee highly complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools. Perform continual maintenance and provides highly complex solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problems. Maintain current knowledge of rapidly changing technology and work with management to evolve current processes. Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Technical skills: Linux, Microsoft client- and server-based operating systems, Cisco and Juniper
  • Security clearance level: TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • US citizenship required
