Systems Engineer - Physical Security, Access Control & Video

About The Position

Our client is a growing, family-owned Midwest technology integrator delivering enterprise networking, cybersecurity, cloud, and physical security under one roof. Customers increasingly want one partner for the network and for the cameras and badge readers protecting it. That is the model this company built, and its physical security practice is the fastest-moving part of the business. The Detroit metro territory just opened and is a top hiring priority. You will be a core field engineer in a territory the company is actively building: trusted to run sites, own customers, and represent the company on every job. The honest version: this is a field seat. Expect roughly 75% of your time on customer sites and up to 20% overnight travel, and you will often be the only company representative on a jobsite. If you want to program access control from behind a desk, this is the wrong seat.

Requirements

  • Hands-on installation and commissioning of access control and video surveillance systems.
  • Genetec, Avigilon, and/or Milestone experience.
  • Experience running a jobsite solo as the on-site subject matter expert.
  • Low-voltage wiring, hardware, and security network fluency.
  • Self-driven and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Polished, professional, and high-integrity demeanor on customer sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications preferred, not required when the experience is strong.
  • Verkada and Hanwha experience are a plus, and comparable major platforms count.
  • A senior security technician or systems engineer at a smaller integrator who already does everything - install, program, commission, and own the customer.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end field delivery of access control and video surveillance systems: install, program, configure, commission, and test against plans, drawings, and specs.
  • Manage the customer on site, representing the company in every interaction, not just closing tickets.
  • Network appliance setup and configuration for security systems.
  • As-built documentation, service records, and end-user training.
  • Exercise judgment in the field to make decisions when the site does not match the design and still meet project plan goals.

Benefits

  • Company vehicle and tools provided.
  • Full benefits active on day one.
  • 401(k) with a 100% match on the first 4%, fully vested from the start.
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • A high-trust, high-autonomy culture.
