About The Position

Outpost Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineer (Network) to focus on integrating networking, compute, communications, video, and supporting infrastructure into a Mobile Command and Control platform. This role will work closely with the Network Engineer and broader engineering team to integrate networking, compute, communications, video, and supporting infrastructure into a cohesive operational system. The selected candidate will participate throughout the project lifecycle, including hardware evaluation and procurement, laboratory integration and testing, trailer installation, system verification, and customer delivery activities. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, integrating multi-vendor systems, and working across hardware, software, and networking domains. The selected candidate will join a small, highly technical team responsible for delivering a fully integrated Mobile Command and Control platform. During the initial phase of the program, the team will establish and integrate all hardware and network infrastructure within a laboratory environment to support system testing and risk reduction. Upon delivery of the platform, the integrated system will be installed, validated, and prepared for customer acceptance. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to a fielded defense capability while gaining experience across networking, systems integration, testing, and deployment activities. The posted compensation range represents the expected pay range for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation may be higher or lower than the stated range based on factors such as relevant experience, education, certifications, specialized expertise, geographic considerations, market conditions, and alignment with internal compensation structures and government contracting requirements.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline (OR equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience supporting technical system integration, networking, IT infrastructure, communications systems, or related engineering activities
  • Experience working with computer hardware, servers, workstations, or communications equipment
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and system diagrams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense programs
  • Familiarity with government network security requirements
  • Familiarity with command and control, communications, or tactical network environments
  • Experience with Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, Fortinet, or similar networking technologies
  • Experience with Windows and Linux systems administration
  • Experience with virtualization platforms
  • Familiarity with video distribution, display systems, KVM solutions, or AV integration
  • Experience performing integration, verification, validation, or acceptance testing
  • Experience with rack-mounted systems and cable infrastructure
  • Familiarity with STIGs, and cybersecurity compliance requirements- specifically government security requirements
  • Industry certifications such as Security+, Windows/Linux certifications, etc.
  • Functional/working knowledge of container applications
  • Ability to write/troubleshoot scripts

Responsibilities

  • Support the integration of networking, compute, storage, video, communications, and peripheral systems into a Mobile Command and Control platform
  • Assist with hardware evaluation
  • Build and maintain laboratory integration environments used to verify system functionality prior to installation
  • Configure and troubleshoot servers, workstations, network devices, displays, and supporting hardware
  • Support integration of classified, unclassified, and tactical network infrastructures
  • Perform system-level troubleshooting across multiple technical disciplines
  • Execute integration, verification, validation, and acceptance testing activities
  • Develop test procedures, checklists, and system documentation for customer
  • Assist with equipment installation, rack integration, cable management, and hardware configuration
  • Support transition of integrated systems from laboratory environments into operational platforms
  • Conduct end-to-end testing and issue resolution following system installation
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and program personnel to ensure successful system delivery
  • Support customer demonstrations, field events, and deployment activities as required
