About The Position

Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Systems Engineer – Level 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Huntsville, AL. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. This requisition may be filled at a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – Level 4.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related work experience; or a Master’s degree in STEM and 6 years of related work experience; or a PhD in STEM and 4 years of related work experience.
  • Strong prior experience using MSOSA (Cameo) and DOORS to develop system level behaviors and software to hardware interface definitions and interface control documents.
  • Experience analyzing electrical schematics, electrical interface control documents (ICDs), circuit diagrams, and FPGA logic or logic gate diagrams.
  • Demonstrated technical background in architecture development, functional decomposition, requirements development and allocation, and interface definition using system modeling tools.
  • Experience developing test plans, development of verification plans and tracking status of verification
  • Strong background in MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) and the use of SysML to describe behaviors of complex DoD systems.
  • Experience leading and mentoring in a team environment.
  • Experience with Agile development, including leading Scrum events such as sprint planning, Program Increment (PI) planning, Backlog refinement, roadmap development, and retrospectives and execution of work with defined deadlines and milestones.
  • Experience interfacing with and briefing external customers and experience interfacing with and managing subcontractors.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
  • Current, active, in-scope U.S. DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application (required to start).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or related domains (e.g., air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.).
  • Systems modeling and analysis experience in one or more aspects of the missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapon System, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Glide Phase Intercept (GPI), Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), fire control, C2BMC, MDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.).
  • Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems.
  • Experience using Atlassian products such as JIRA and Confluence to develop product backlogs, roadmaps, and reporting metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an Agile system engineering team.
  • Lead and perform model-based systems engineering (MBSE) functional, behavior analysis and develop and decompose requirements for a software and hardware integrated system.
  • Oversee publishing change notices to system specification and update of requirements databases, architectural models, interface definitions, and trace system and Element level requirements.
  • Oversee documentation and analysis results in reports and briefings for critique and review by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead development of test plans, development of verification plans and tracking status of verification.
  • Support integration of hardware systems in lab environments and work with lab managers for understanding and communicating system integration dependencies.
