Systems Engineer III

ArcfieldLouisville, CO

About The Position

Systems Engineer III serves a critical role in development of Orion Space Solutions products and programs. This critical role is responsible for all aspects of systems design excellence at Orion Space Solutions, on complex spacecraft and payload products. You will be considered a systems engineering technical authority within OSS. This role performs systems engineering activities in all stages of product design, from customer requirements derivation, through design, verification and validation, AI&T, and product launch. The engineer will derive and manage requirements at all levels of complex space systems, sub-systems and components. Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and system-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Authors and designs verification and validation methods and documents them through procedures. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other cross-functional teams to develop derived level design implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development timeline. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements. Participates in and contributes to Risk Review and Configuration Control Boards. Acts as the Systems Lead for a dedicated subsystem (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, etc.). Manages Interface Control Documentation, specifically payload-to-bus interfaces. Organizes, prepares and drives execution of customer-facing milestone design reviews: SRR, PDR, and CDR.
