About The Position

Sabre Systems is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer III to support critical naval software delivery operations for our customer, the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC-PAC), located in San Diego, California. The selected candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Application Arsenal (AA), NIWC-PAC's enterprise-class software delivery platform that provides mission-critical capabilities to naval forces worldwide. The Application Arsenal serves as the Department of the Navy's premier enterprise distribution, update, and installation service for software deployed at the tactical edge. This sophisticated platform enables seamless Over-The-Air (OTA) software delivery from development environments to operational edge systems across diverse and challenging operational contexts. Current deployment targets include: Agile Core Services (ACS) - Navy's containerized application platform USMC Common Hosting Environment (CHE) - Marine Corps enterprise hosting infrastructure Overmatch Production Environment (OPE) - Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) ecosystem Five Eyes (FVEY) Partner Systems - Allied nation interoperable platforms Autonomous Vehicles - Unmanned systems across multiple domains Future Platforms - Additional systems projected for integration The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure software delivery pipelines that operate across multiple classification domains and challenging operational environments. This role requires deep technical expertise in modern DevSecOps practices, containerized architectures, and defense-specific platform integration.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum Seven (7) years of demonstrated experience in full lifecycle software development for containerized, virtual machine, and cloud-based architecture across multiple security domains (Unclassified, Secret, Top Secret) using Agile methodologies
  • Minimum Four (4) years of demonstrated experience applying DevSecOps principles, including: Configuring automated security testing tools (SAST/DAST/SCA and container scanners) as quality gates directly in CI/CD pipelines
  • Minimum Four (4) years of demonstrated experience applying DevSecOps principles, including: Working within highly regulated, government-mandated pipelines (e.g., Overmatch Software Armory (OSA) or equivalent DoD enterprise DevSecOps environments)
  • Minimum Three (3) years of demonstrated experience engineering, integrating, and troubleshooting interoperable software systems within critical defense platforms, specifically: Denied, Disrupted, Intermittent, and Limited-bandwidth (DDIL) environments
  • Minimum Three (3) years of demonstrated experience engineering, integrating, and troubleshooting interoperable software systems within critical defense platforms, specifically: Afloat and ashore Platform as a Service (PaaS) environments
  • Minimum Three (3) years of demonstrated experience engineering, integrating, and troubleshooting interoperable software systems within critical defense platforms, specifically: Navy's Agile Core Services (ACS)
  • Minimum Three (3) years of demonstrated experience engineering, integrating, and troubleshooting interoperable software systems within critical defense platforms, specifically: USMC's Common Hosting Environment (CHE)
  • Minimum Three (3) years of demonstrated experience engineering, integrating, and troubleshooting interoperable software systems within critical defense platforms, specifically: Architecture designed for Five Eyes (FVEY) partner interoperability
  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance required (must be current and in-scope)

Responsibilities

  • Engineer and maintain full lifecycle software development pipelines for containerized, virtual machines, and cloud-based architecture
  • Implement and optimize DevSecOps automation across Unclassified, Secret, and Top-Secret security domains
  • Configure and integrate automated security testing tools (SAST, DAST, SCA, and container scanners) as quality gates within CI/CD pipelines
  • Design and troubleshoot interoperable software systems for deployment in Denied, Disrupted, Intermittent, and Limited-bandwidth (DDIL) environments
  • Support software delivery to afloat and ashore Platform as a Service (PaaS) environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies to deliver mission-critical capabilities
  • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements and government-mandated pipeline standards
  • Provide technical expertise for integration with allied partner systems and emerging autonomous platforms
