About The Position

This position is responsible for performing the system analysis and design necessary to install divergent systems and still maintain high levels of performance and uptime in an enterprise environment. It includes interaction between complex systems to maintain high-security levels and data protection techniques as required in our highly regulated market. This role is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and repairing all of the organization's IT Systems, including but not limited to Server Hardware, Windows Servers, VMware, Citrix, Cloud Services, SAN and NAS storage, MS SQL Server, DB/2, and Microsoft 365. This role also involves using AI-assisted tools to support various IT tasks, reviewing AI-generated outputs, and supporting the adoption of AI technologies. Occasional business travel may be required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required.
• Five (5) plus years of experience in systems engineering.
• Extensive knowledge of various server hardware platforms, including high-density and stand-alone configurations. Proficient in making informed decisions regarding their selection and optimization.
• Strong mastery of Windows Server and Linux operating systems, adept at managing their roles and operations effectively.
• Advanced expertise in VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi hypervisor operations. Familiarity with various virtualization platforms, including Citrix Xen, Microsoft Hyper-V, and cloud services/SaaS offerings.
• In-depth understanding of LAN, WAN, and storage network technology, covering both hardware devices and software protocols and services.
• Comprehensive knowledge of various storage technologies, including local, SAN, and NAS solutions from leading vendors like Pure and EMC.
• Proficiency in public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure. Extensive experience in integrating cloud services into on-premises infrastructure.
• Expertise in DevOps practices, including automated testing, continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code, actively promoting agility and efficiency in IT operations.
• High-level proficiency in development tools like Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, Jenkins, Git, etc., facilitating seamless collaboration between development and operations teams.
• Advanced administrative knowledge of MS SQL Server, DB/2, and other databases. Expertise in clustering, high availability, backups, and log handling.
• Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft 365, encompassing mailbox management, database administration, high availability, clustering, security, and anti-spam products.
• Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, with experience in leading teams and effectively managing projects.
• Expertise in strategic planning and budget management, with a track record of aligning IT initiatives with organizational goals.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, adept at handling complex technical issues efficiently.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, capable of effectively conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and successfully engaging in vendor and partner negotiations.
• Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Nice To Haves

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Leads and executes system architecture design.
• Manages and optimizes large-scale systems and networks.
• Provides technical leadership on projects.
• Conducts in-depth troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Designs, implements, and troubleshoots system upgrades and enhancements of enterprise-class solutions.
• Troubleshoots and resolves moderate to complex technical issues.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams on system improvements.
• Provides support of minimum security baseline requirements for all IT systems.
• Maintains a clean and organized server room and work area.
• Responds to network, server, and application outages.
• Communicates outages to management and provides assistance to resolve the problems in a timely manner.
• Contributes to IT strategy and planning.
• May lead projects and perform other duties as assigned.
• Use approved AI-assisted tools to support coding/scripting, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documentation, technical research, and related work to improve the quality and speed of deliverables.
• Review and validate AI-generated outputs to ensure they meet company standards for security, privacy, quality, accuracy, and responsible use.
• Support the adoption and expansion of AI technologies by evaluating tools, new uses and processes while providing constructive feedback.
