About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. In this role, you will lead the verification of subsystems that meet Blue Origin’s needs for a vehicle within the Lunar Permanence set of vehicles. You will work across subsystems and support integrated solutions to achieve our vision of “millions of people living and working in space” and apply system engineering practices across subject areas predicated to a high degree on your technical skills. You will support the development of Verification Activities for the program, ensure consistent implementations across the program, and serve in a system integration capacity working with multi-discipline teams to arrive at technical system solutions. You will support requirements definition, validation, and verification of requirements at all levels of the program using tools like Jama, system lifecycle configuration management tools, and other functional analysis toolsets. Additionally, this role requires understanding and supporting requirements analysis and traceability, functional analysis, and verification plan development. You will ensure the alignment and consistent implementation of Lunar system engineering practices from vehicle to lower-level program tiers. You will also participate in gated reviews, develop health metrics to support insight into program health and tracking to major milestones. The position requires strong collaboration within the SSE team and across the entire program. In this fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will contribute to innovative solutions while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence and judgement, and a commitment to the highest technical standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering or equivalent technical field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, preferably in the space industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of systems engineering fundamentals and experience in multiple system lifecycle phases.
  • Successful candidates in this role typically have 5+ years of related experience in the design, development, and flight test of aerospace systems, preferably spacecraft.
  • Experience Verifying an integrated system with depth in one or more spacecraft subsystems, and/or system design and integration.
  • Experience in verification of space system requirements and concept definitions that span a broad range of mission objectives.
  • Experience with verification planning, coordination of verification evidence, and development/delivery of verification closure notices.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and diagrams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. degree in a relevant technical field
  • Domain experience with spacecraft system and subsystem functions, interfaces, complex system testing.
  • Experience defining and performing complex trade studies
  • Experience with design, development, and certification of spaceflight systems
  • Experience with logical and physical architecture definition and decomposition
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices and their rightsizing for rapid development programs
  • Advanced experience with systems engineering tools such as Jama
  • Experience using hardware or software testbeds and lab environments for system verification.
