About The Position

The Systems Engineer II supports the development, integration, testing, and delivery of complex aerospace and defense systems. This position derives and manages system-level requirements, provides technical guidance across multiple engineering disciplines, develops system-level documentation, and executes system integration and testing activities. The Systems Engineer II works closely with the Systems Engineering Manager, Senior Systems Engineer, Director of Engineering, customers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure system designs meet technical, program, and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field, such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, or Applied Mathematics.
  • 5–15 years of experience in highly technical research and development, engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, medical, or related environments, or equivalent experience.
  • U.S. Person under ITAR requirements.
  • Demonstrated competence in technical development, analysis, or integration of engineering applications or systems.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with electrical test equipment, including AC/DC sources, signal generators, programmable loads, oscilloscopes, power meters, and multimeters.
  • 3–5 years of experience supporting or leading technical projects.
  • Experience providing technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience working across multiple disciplines, including electronics, mechanical, software, firmware, and management.
  • Experience interfacing directly with customers and developing technical relationships centered on customer requirements and mission objectives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, and Project.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience with imaging systems or image processing.
  • Experience with power management systems.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or medical product development.
  • Experience supporting complex systems through formal engineering design and technical reviews.
  • Experience developing and executing system-level Acceptance Test Procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Derive system-level requirements from customer and internal research and development (IRAD) requirements and requests.
  • Generate and maintain flow-down requirements for subassemblies, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to electrical, software, firmware, and mechanical engineering teams.
  • Generate and maintain system-level documentation, including block diagrams, system-level Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), Interface Documents, analysis reports, and user operational manuals.
  • Execute system integration and test activities in laboratory environments, including configuring test setups and operating electrical test equipment.
  • Execute system-level ATPs in laboratory environments, at external third-party test facilities, and at customer sites as required.
  • Work closely with the Senior Systems Engineer and Systems Engineering Manager to ensure system designs meet established system architectures.
  • Support technical reviews by preparing presentations, participating in reviews, and presenting technical information as appropriate.
  • Support reviews including Kickoff Meetings, Systems Requirements Reviews, System Design Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, Prototype Manufacturing Readiness Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Production Readiness Reviews.
  • Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams in support of customer requirements and program objectives.
  • Communicate technical issues, risks, and potential solutions clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interface directly with customers and support technical discussions centered on system requirements, technical objectives, and mission needs.
  • Coordinate technical activities across multiple engineering disciplines to support successful program execution.
  • Identify and communicate system-level risks, technical challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
