About The Position

Intelligent Waves is seeking a Systems Engineer II to support mission-critical initiatives for our government customers. This role is a key contributor within our Integration Engineering team, focused on the design, development, deployment, and sustainment of advanced systems and applications supporting enterprise-wide big data processing and analytics. Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science related field or the equivalent combination of at least four (4) years of related education, professional training, or work experience.
  • Possess at least five (5) years of experience in Systems Engineering (preferably in Air Force or DoD environment).
  • Possess an IAT Level II certification in accordance with DoD 8140 (i.e., Sec+ CE [MCSA]).
  • Possess experiences in Systems Engineering for Enterprise IT systems.
  • Performing user interaction and identifying end user needs and documenting system capabilities needed
  • Researching potential solutions and identify recommended solutions
  • Designing holistic IT solutions
  • Installing, Testing, and Documenting new capabilities
  • Integrating and deploying new capabilities into existing systems
  • Providing training to Systems Administrators for operations and maintenance of new capabilities
  • Developing and documenting CONOPS, TTP, and SOPs
  • Providing inputs to and following directions from Configuration Management processes.
  • Knowledge of common base-level (Air Force) communication and IT systems as well as familiarity with Air Force Instructions (17 and 33 series), especially 33-115v1.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver end-to-end systems engineering: requirements gathering, design, development, test, and documentation of solutions.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Integration, Operations and Maintenance, and User teams to evolve the system.
  • Provide systems engineering and system administration support across a wide range of hardware and software, including but not limited to: Hyper-converged infrastructure, Enterprise servers, Enterprise and object storage (block, file, and object), including software-defined storage, using SMB/CIFS, NFS, S3, and HDFS, End-user compute (thin clients, laptops, and desktops), Networking and boundary security (enterprise switching and routing, boundary firewalls, inline/Type 1 network encryption, and other CSfC components), Platforms and services: VMware vSphere and Horizon VDI, Rancher RKE2 containerization, Windows AD and enterprise services, Elasticsearch (ELK), DNS, DHCP, Automation and scripting: PowerShell, Ansible, PowerCLI, Bash, and others, Operating systems: Windows 10/11, Windows Server, and enterprise Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Rocky Linux, and others), Databases and data platforms: Microsoft SQL Server, Apache/Cloudera Hadoop, PostgreSQL, MariaDB/MySQL, government-furnished data platforms (GOTS), and other data applications, Other software: Git, GitLab Server, web servers, Java app.
  • Perform installation, configuration, hardening, and testing for new and updated system changes.
  • Recommend, implement, and test patches and security fixes.
  • Interface and coordinate with government and commercial partners and customers.
  • Develop and document CONOPS, TTPs, and SOPs.
  • Ensure compliance with all technical and architectural standards and DoD/AF guidance.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with peers and other team members.
  • Provide engineering support for systems and networks at both austere and fixed locations to deliver mission capabilities at the edge.
  • Willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • May be required to work outside normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, shift work, and overtime, to support mission requirements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
